Fashion Friday – They Can't Be Serious

OK – I’m no fashion expert – never claimed to be – just a busy mom who wants to spend less time getting dressed and leave the house looking sharp. In fact, I openly admit the only reason I started Achievable Fashion was so that I could stop having a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear. I needed to learn how to master my closet. I have finally mastered my closet, wrote a book about it, and now have this fun blog. This blog reports the current trends and shows how real women can add them into their lives, something else I could never figure out. And although most of us, including myself, are frolicking through summer with no thoughts of fall, it is time for me to begin the research necessary to deliver you the fall trends. I began my research and I came across this trend – Strong Hips. Yes – you read correct – Strong Hips. Now, being a lover of infomercials I know for a fact that 9 out of 10 infomercials focus on some sort of weight loss or body shaping, which tells me a majority of us are trying to lose some of our body and not add to it. So I ask you, “Do we really need a trend that is going to add to our hips?”

This Jason Wu dress is an example, and although I always love his designs, this trend is one I cannot agree with.
Happy Weekend!

3 Ways To Play Up Your Waist

This months Real Simple features an article, “How to play up your waist” by Elinor Smith, that I find very useful. I swear, ever since I turned 30 the struggle to keep my middle little has been overwhelming and is now an all out war. I would like to blame it on the fact that I have given birth, an excuse I used to detest before I had my son and one I swore I would never use. The reality is I like food, and lots of it. I like sweets, salty foods, and anything in between and because of that my middle often expands a bit. This article has some great tips for when that happens. It shows 5 styles to make your waist look great. These are my favorite three.

1. Crossover Neckline – Redirects focus from the bust to the waist.
2. Adjustable Band – Cinches in a full stomach. (A thanksgiving must!)
3. Wide Belt – Accentuates an hour glass figure and makes the waist look tiny!

Build A Basic Classic Wardrobe

“Never Again Have a Closet Full of Clothes and Nothing to Wear!”

buy-the-bookHaving a Basic Classic Wardrobe is essential. It is the foundation for all out fits. Having a Basic Classic Wardrobe (BCW) eliminates The Closet Full of Clothes and Nothing to wear “syndrome”. Once you have a built your (BCW) getting dressed is a snap!

You Need to Build A Basic Classic Wardrobe!

If you take way too long to get dressed you do NOT have a BCW and need one!

You know who you are.  Each morning things are just fine until you have to go in There!  The Closet! (Here’s the part where I vision my old self pulling hair out of my head!)

Okay, if that’s you, at some point it’s all of us, there is help. Achievable Fashion was created out of my own need to understand why I had 9 million things in my closet and nothing to wear. I am a reformed closet hater!  So, why is our closet bursting with clothes and we have nothing to wear?

One reason is that we get confused or maybe don’t even know the difference between classic clothing and fashion trends. Season after season we purchase trend after trend and have no classics to pair them with. Thus, The Closet Full of Clothes and Nothing to Wear. Classic clothes are those pieces that are timeless. They are neutral in color, have clean lines , and go with everything.

Fashion trends are seasonal, they are fun in color and texture and do not go with everything. If you can imagine, when we purchase trends only (we have all, either done this or are still doing it ) our closets are full of bright red, orange plaid, and purple fuzzy trends from the past decade. Ouch! In fact our closets start looking like a Salvation Army store that had a bomb blow up in it!

So what to do.  First Build The Achievable Fashion Basic Classic Wardrobe and then visit this web site often to learn how to update your wardrobe with seasonal trends. Get The Achievable Fashion Book Now!

Because it is my goal to rid every women of her closet full of clothes and nothing to wear, I have decided to make the  first book in our series FREE! I know this book will change your life! Enjoy!

Is there anything greater than getting lost in love? Perhaps, getting lost in our minds is as great, if not greater. Every time I see this beautiful photo I wonder where this story began, where it ventured , and where it is now.  The power of a picture.  Thanks Ange!
