Our fashion simplicity journey began with helping women build the Ultimate Wardrobe. The Ultimate Wardrobe is a collection of must have wardrobe essentials. Having these must haves in your closet eliminates those pesky closets full of nothing to wear. Next we made adding trends easy and inexpensive. This one two punch simplified fashion greatly for those struggling to get dressed everyday.

As we continued our journey, we felt there was a missing link. There remained a huge disconnect from the fashion world to the closets of everyday women. Flip through any magazine and this becomes clear. Don’t get me wrong, everyone loves flipping through the latest magazines. But, when done, most are left with the same conclusion– not much is for me. That’s when the idea hit. We realized a bridge connecting the magazines to closets everywhere was the missing link! The Look for Less was born!!!

I have just completed flipping through the May/June issue of W Magazine. Of course, as always, I enjoyed flipping cover to cover. Pages filled with beautiful people adorned with the lasted and greatest in fashion. Beautiful page after beautiful page… Take the needle off the record!

As much as I appreciated page after page filled with frivolous pomp, noting was very practical. There wasn’t anything I could add to my life. This is the disconnect between the fashion world and closets everywhere. Since one of my jobs is to create a bridge from the fashion magazines to your closet; I selected 5 favorites from this flip and, you guessed it, found practical alternatives.(Images are not mine — screen shots from W Magazine.)

This bright pink look is fabulous! BUT, not practical. The gorgeous top, found at Macys, is the practical way to wear the look.

Love, love, love this shoe!!! I did not search this shoes origin, however, it is most likely way over budget! Also the heel is not practical. We found a practical version at Payless.

As fun as It is to flip through magazines and see trends on the runway, I’m not so sure about the practicality of what we see in the magazines. Example above, I don’t know anyone who would be able to wear the full length sequin gown while picking the kids up from school, do you? So the question becomes, how do I add trends to my closet? Answer, one trend at a time.

Above are the everyday versions of the trends, how we, everyday women add trends to our closets. Magazines show the trends, but don’t explain how to add them to your life easily and inexpensively. To keep up with the fashion world, one needs to purchase an entire new wardrobe each season! Not with Achievable Fashion. We have you build your wardrobe once and done. When you head out to grab spring fashion trends, keep 3 things in mind.

Trends need to work with what you have.
When purchasing multiple trends make sure they can be worn together.
Neutral equals mileage.

1. Any new item, trend or other, that is added to your closet must work well with what you already own. Otherwise it will be cast off, to the Island of Fashion Misfits; the every growing pile of nothing to wear that lives in your closet!

2. If planning to purchase multiple trends this season, be sure they can be worn together. The ability to wear trends together will multiply your looks.

3. Neutral equals mileage. There is nothing wrong with having fun with colors and textures. After all, trends are meant to be fun. Just keep in mind that you will be able to wear neutral items with more things than multicolored ones. .
