Apply Color Theory to Eye Shadow – Beauty Report Article of the Month!

I have found the first Achievable Fashion Beauty Report Article of the Month! (I am so excited!)

Let’s review who gets the coveted Article of the Month Award. As you know, I spend my time trolling the web and flipping through magazines to find useful information that will help women along their fashion and beauty journey. I decided to do this because whenever I needed fashion or beauty information I would search for hours only to come up with a bunch of nonsense. Nonsense that was geared for the ultra-young, ultra – rich, ultra – beautiful and ultra – thin.

I became overwhelmed, confused and annoyed every time I needed information on either fashion or beauty. Because I was overwhelmed, confused and annoyed I thought others might be too. Because the fashion and beauty world seemed to cater to the “Ultras “of the world I decided to create a website that would cater to everyday women, which I affectionately refer to as the masses! With that, I have made it my job to sift through the sea of fashion and beauty information, throw out the nonsense and report the useful stuff, you know the stuff we real ladies – the masses – can use. Whatever article I feel is the most useful of the articles I find each month gets the coveted Article of the Month Award!

Any who, back to the first ever Beauty Article of the Month. I love this article, “Handy Hint – Makeup Color Wheels.” I love it because I don’t think many of us know what we are doing when it comes to selecting eye shadow. I know that before I began researching makeup, what colors to wear, how to apply, should I wear shimmer, etc. I had no clue what I was doing. All I knew was that some days my eye makeup looked good and other days it did not. I had absolutely no clue why it looked good sometimes or why it looked horrid other times.

When it comes to making our eyes look amazing there are many things we need to know. One of the things we need to know is which colors work best for the color of our eyes. Although there are not hard core rules these days when it comes to eye shadow color, there are some definite colors that will highlight your eyes and make them pop! Utilizing color theory when selecting eye shadow will have your eyes standing out, not the eye shadow.

Although using color theory when selecting eye shadow color will have our eyes looking there best, color theory is not something we usually associate with eye shadow. We are taught and think color theory when it comes to art, but rarely do we apply this knowledge to our eye shadow selecting. And unless we have taken art at some point, we may not have a clue about color theory. Thus the reason for all the incorrect eye shadow colors being touted around town! When you apply color theory to selecting eye shadow colors, your eyes look their best!

I love this article because it explains how to apply color theory when selecting eye shadow colors. After reading this you will have a clear understanding of what eye shadow colors will work best for your eye color.

Get Rid of Dark Circles!

Dark circles under the eyes may be one of the most common issues we have. I love it when I find an article that addresses common issues. How do we get rid of those pesky dark circles under our eyes? First and foremost make sure you are getting enough sleep, lack of sleep will surely have those dark circles under your eyes looking their worst.

I came across this article in Oprah Magazine – “How to Conceal Dark Circles Under Your Eyes.” I find this article report worthy because; most women complain of dark circles under their eyes and I love the simple to follow steps of concealing dark circles. This article gives you the steps and the tools you need to do your under eye concealing, easy! I have also researched some great tools for you to use!

Busy ladies need things as simple as possible. That’s why I love this article simple and easy! Pay close attention when placing concealer on your dark areas, making sure to only get the concealer where it is dark. Think outline and fill in the lines… remember back to coloring!

I am always on the search for information that will make your fashion and beauty journey simpler. I search for the information that will make your life easier so you don’t have to.

I love this article, “Perfect Bronzer in 3 Simple Steps” – Oprah Magazine. I love this article because I think there is a fine line between looking sun kissed and looking a bit like Bozo the Clown. In fact I am quite sure that many of us have no clue what we are doing when we pick up their bronzing bushes.

This article shows you how to apply bronzer. We can now be sun kissed and not clown kissed!

Eat Your Way To Great Skin!

Have you ever thought, “Boy do I wish I could find the fountain of youth?” Or have you looked in the mirror and thought, holy crap I look old and not so good. If either thought has crossed your mind, let me share two things with you. One, the fountain of youth is not that far away, and two, you have control – to some degree on how graceful of ungraceful you age.

What we put in our mouth, what we eat, can have a big impact on how we look and how we age.

I have always been obsessed with any information that links beauty and youth to nutrition. My obsession has lead me to know a lot of tidbits on the subject. It seemed people were always wildly impressed with my tidbits of info on nutritional beauty which is why I created a nutritional beauty section on The Achievable Fashion Beauty Report.

I figure, instead of keeping these nuggets of information – golden nuggets, to myself I should share them. I am constantly searching for them anyway, why not share them and save you the time.

Here is a great article outlining some fabulous foods that will have your skin looking its very best. Skin is the base of beauty. Great skin will have you looking fabulous and will keep aging at bay. Not so great skin can have you looking like you should be at your 40^th high school reunion instead of your 25^th! Yikes. This trend, graphic 60’s inspired pieces, was in the March issue of Elle. (Okay I am a bit behind – story of my life!)

Be still my heart, something in a fashion magazine I can actually purchase! Okay let’s not get crazy there are only 2 dresses highlighted that won’t break the bank.

Chunky Chains – Spring 2013

Okay, less in not more in the case of this springs chunky gold chains. Spring 2013 fashion trends have us adding more and more when it comes to chunky chains. I ripped this look out of the March issue of Elle.

I think this look is fun, unexpected and over the top! Love it!

Naturally the chunky chain designs highlighted in Bazaar Magazine are not as budget friendly as the masses need them to be. Are they ever? My goal is to bring the magazines to real women’s closets each month. I have found some fabulous choices for those of us who cannot spend a ton, including $575.00 on a pair of Giuseppe Zanolli sandals!

This trend is a bit pricier than others, especially if you would like to add chunky chain shoes to your spring 2013 wardrobe.

I love this top. Mixing prints is so hot right now, yet most of us are scared to death mix prints together. While perusing the JCP website for budget friendly spring 2013 trends I came across this beauty.

This top does the print mixing for us! With this top we are print mixing – one of this season’s hottest trends, but we don’t have to worry about seeing our photo in the how not to mix prints / when prints go wrong section!

Wardrobe Essentials – The Tee is a Basic Classic Fashion Staple!

By now you know that I love, love, love classic pieces. If you have downloaded my first book, you know that you need these classic pieces, aka essential wardrobe items if you hope to rid yourself of that closet full of clothes and nothing to wear. A good portion of the reason for the infamous closet full of clothes and nothing to wear is that we lack the essentials / classic pieces.

If you have read my first book — get it now and get a grip, you know that tees are an essential part of your Basic Classic Wardrobe (BCW). Tees can be worn with anything, anywhere.

Everyone wears tees. Check out these celebs sporting their favorite tees.

When you are first building your BCW I suggest you get one black tee and one white tee. Once you have your white and black tees, you can add more tees to your closet. The key to building a working wardrobe is to get one of everything you need first, then go back and add in your multiples. Add in as many as you like, you really can’t have too many great fitting tees.

Straw Bags – Not Just for the Beach Anymore!

Here is another trend I love from the April issue of Allure Magazine. The natural bag! There is nothing that says spring / summer than a natural bag. There was a time when these bags were for the beach only. Well I am happy to say these are not your Mama’s straw bags!

Naturally, the bags highlighted here are a bit over budget for us Achievable Fashion Ladies. So like always I have made it my job to source out straw bags that are on budget. After all, I live to make fashion achievable to all! If you flip through this Allure Magazine and like the look of the bags on this page, a closer look would have you believing this is a look you can’t achieve. Not the case at all.

Check out the selection of bags I found. Now, they aren’t the exact bags in the article, but they will help you achieve the same look.

Clear Heels – Spring 2013 Trend

I just flipped through this month’s Allure Magazine. By now you should know my gig is to find the best fashion information and report it on the Achievable Fashion Magazine. By best fashion information I mean useful fashion information. Let’s face it the fashion world caters to the ultra – rich and the ultra – thin so a lot of the fashion stuff out there does not apply to the masses and there for is non-useful.

After searching through sea of fashion info each month I report what I think real women – the masses can use. I found 2 trends in the Allure April issue that I think we can all add into our lives. The first trend is the clear heel. I love the look of this clear heel. Be careful with this trend, there is a fine line between trendy and trashy on this one. Just search clear shoe on Google and you will see what I mean.

Naturally the clear shoes that Allure highlighted come with hefty price tags, the least expensive is $325.00. From $325 the prices steadily climb until they reach $1195.00! Yikes! This is why I created Achievable Fashion, who can really spend $325 – $1195 on a pair of shoes that will most likely be out next season. I know I can’t.

I pride myself for bringing the runways, magazines and red carpets to average women’s closets. So like I always do, I have found some much cheaper clear heel shoe choices for you. Although the choices I found are much less than the shoes Allure magazine is showing, you will still have to pay a bit to add these to your wardrobe this season. Usually I like to find trends under $50 – making it very budget friendly, but with this one I could not.

Sometimes we just have to spend a bit more.
