How to : Layer! Article of the Month – Lucky Magazine “Get the Layered Look!

cn_image_2_size_layerdd-look-1Who gets in the running for the coveted Achievable Fashion Article of the Month Award?   Who makes the cut you are asking?

Ok, who am I kidding, you’re not asking that at all.

Like I always say, this award will mean much more when we have hundreds of thousands of visitors each month…it’s coming, how am I so certain?

Because our ultimate goal is to help women rid themselves of their dreadful closet full of clothes and nothing to wear – and because over 90% of women have this dreadful closet – I know we will reach a time when magazines are vying for that coveted article of the month award.  For now I realize no one is banging my door down – in fact no one really cares right now.

Any who, we give the award to whatever article we feel has the most useful fashion information of the month. By useful, I mean fashion information that real women can actually use. So whoever has the most useful article of the month walks away with the coveted Achievable Fashion Article of the Month Award!

Drum Roll….

This month’s award goes to Lucky Magazine!

I love, love, love the article; “Get the Layered Look” – Lucky Mag January 2013. (As usual I am behind the times – story of my life!)

Why do I live this article? Because layering is so cool, whenever I see it in the magazines I think cool. Yet when I attempt to reproduce the layered looks, I end up looking like a cross between being dressed for a round of strip poker and the Michelin tire man. (Let the records show I do not actually play strip poker!)

I have often thought, why can’t I layer like they do in the magazines?

I know if I end up looking like I popped out of the layering gone wrong section, there are some of you too, that may need a hand with layering.  So for all of us who get layering wrong, here is the perfect article on how to get the perfect layered look!

Ippolita Ring – Magazine to Real Life

img004

Another favorite of mine from the March issue of Bazar Magazine is this Ippolita ring.  The Color is stunning; the water affect is a big spring 2013 trend.  This ring will look gorgeous with an all-white ensemble and matching blue earrings.  Perfect for those warm nights to come!

Take the needle off the record…at $1,095.00 I realized I can’t have it. Like most other things in the fashion magazines this ring is out of range financially for most of us, what I affectionately call the masses.

So as always, off to work I went to find the Achievable Fashion alternative for me, and the masses; the Magazine to Real Life version if you will.

Check out this almost perfect version for those of us who are part of the mass! I also found her sister earrings. Its days like these that make me think, hot diggity dog I’m good!

Pearl Rings – Magazine to Real Life

img003

The March Bazar Magazine has a ton of things I love!  I have already reported some of my favs and more will follow!  Here is a photo, from “The Party” – Chic Soirees, The best entertaining tips from top designers, showing some gorgeous pearl rings.

I am a lover of fantastic cocktail rings.   A few fabulous cocktail rings are a must in every ladies wardrobe.  Included in those few has to be a fabulous pearl ring!  The rings in this photo fit the bill; they are big, bold, and a statement they make.

Financially however, unless you are among the elite there is no way you are getting your hands on them. In fact there are no prices, which means, holy price tag.  So for those of us who aren’t willing to take out a second mortgage on our home to purchase a cocktail ring, here are two wonderful choices.  Is that Magazine to Real Life or what?

How to get the BASLER Look for Less!

I love these looks by BASLER “ripped” from the March issue of Bazar.  I could not find the exact items to give you and exact prices.  What I can tell you is that a similar tweed jacket from BASLER is over $1,000 dollars and separate pieces I have found are around $400 or so.  Making the outfit in the middle, give or take, in the $1800 range.  (And that is minus shoes)

So having flipped through the latest fashion mag, I found a fabulous look I love – as I usually do, the challenge is I can’t afford $1800 for a top, jacket and pants.  I have to believe that the masses cannot either.

Achievable Fashion to the rescue!  I found some neat alternatives. I could not replicate the look exactly; in fact this took some digging.   I found some great tweed jackets and some great floral tops that can be combined to get the same look and feel!

White and Black Mod Love

I love what I do at Achievable Fashion.  I really consider Achievable Fashion the bridge that connects the runways and magazines to real women’s closets.

Here is a trend I ripped from the March issue of Bazar Magazine. I love the sharpness of black and white.

The challenge is, the cheapest item on this page is Coach ring for $88. And I cannot buy an $88 ring!  The next cheapest item is $345. Then the items climb in price steadily until we reach $4500 – for a bag that is smaller than my wallet! Yikes!  Okay I am not implying that there is anything wrong if you are in this spending bracket – I just know that most of us are not!

So below is how we, the masses, add this mod love into our lives!

How to – 5 Ways to Hide Your Belly Fat!

Okay we have all, be it now or some other time, struggled with a little more on our midsection than we would like.  In fact, I am convinced, those of us who love to eat struggle with a muffin top most of the time. I have affectionately named my muffin top Muffy ! She is sort of my sidekick!

I try to work out and curb the eating but all it takes is 2 days of being not so good and my side kick “Muffy” is back.

I no longer detest my side kick – don’t get me wrong, I prefer she take a slow row boat to China and never be seen again, however, my love of food may never allow this to happen. So I have decided to embrace her as I now try to embrace everything! (sign of getting older!)

So what I am dedicated to do is finding cleaver ways to disguise her.  I believe that looking our best is part trickery plus part smoke and mirrors – which is best achieved by finding the proper fit and understanding some basic rules.

So instead of living a life of deprivation, which may be what it takes to have Muffy disappear forever I  find clever ways to disguise her until I get back on the straight and narrow.  In fact, that’s my gig, I find clever things for all things fashion, useful tidbits that help us real women.  My job sift sort and report the good stuff.

Naturally when I came across this article, 5 Ways to Hide Your Belly Fat by Susan Swimmer — More Magazine, I found it worthy of reporting.  I hope these tips help!  And by the way have the burger and don’t worry!
