(Masses is a term I use to affectionately describe those who don’t have thousands to spend on fashion.) The above image is a great example of what I do. The large image is a picture of a magazine ad – the small picture is the look for less option. Bags are one of my favorite fashion items. Everyone loves a great bag. Welcome to the Birkin inspired bag. Since the fashion world insists on forgetting that the majority of us live within the borders of a budget, I have made it my job to find affordable alternatives to costly designer choices. Because I know way more people do not have the unlimited funds that affords designer versions, I consider my job bringing fashion to the masses! I have always loved flipping through the magazines – but have found it frustrating that everything between the covers is out of reach.

If you are reading this you most likely also find it daunting.

For the record, the alternatives I find are never represented as originals. They are inspired by the high end designers. The choices I find give the look and feel of the originals– minus the larger than my mortgage price tag. Also, for the record, I have no issue with those who purchase the originals – I just think it’s nice to offer an affordable version for those of us who can’t or won’t spend a small (or large) fortune.

I found this article “Why The Hermès Birkin Bag is a Better Investment Than Gold” in Time. It’s an interesting read. You have to know that if a bag, like the Birkin Bag is a better investment than gold, it probably carries a hefty price tag. According to the article, Birkin bags rang from $60,000 to $200,000. YIKES! Also, they are limited production, with long waiting lists – soooo, even if you can throw down the cash – you may still be out of luck!

Marie Claire – June 2018 – Look for Less

Greetings, Welcome to Marie Claire June 2018 Look for Less.

My goal — find budget friendly alternatives, to not so budget friendly magazine choices. This is my clever way of building a bridge that connects the fashion world to your closet.

In many cases, I quickly find Look for Less choices and easily link to them. These are the days that my job is a breeze! There are other days, when finding great choices takes much longer. These are the days my job is not so easy breezy. Then there are those rare days when it is nearly impossible to find what I am looking for. These are the days I spend pulling my hair out! I have two choices on these days; quit or source my own product.

Such is the case with the Dolce & Gabbana necklace, featured on page 12 in the June 2018 issue of Marie Claire. I searched for hours to find a budget friendly version of this necklace. After no luck and a bit less hair, I headed to one of my go to manufacturers.I am pleased with the Look for Less version. It can be found in The Achievable Fashion Look for Less Store.

I fell in love with this Dolc & Gabbana beauty at hello! It was the first item I marked in this issue.(page12) I then proceeded to pull my hair out trying to find a Look for Less version. Sometimes when things are unusually hard to find, I leave them aside. Not this one! I was bound an determined to find something. Is this an exact match, no. Am I going for an exact match – no. I think this has a similar look and feel. And hey, the price makes it doable. I am very proud of this Look for Less!

Our fashion simplicity journey began with helping women build the Ultimate Wardrobe. The Ultimate Wardrobe is a collection of must have wardrobe essentials. Having these must haves in your closet eliminates those pesky closets full of nothing to wear. Next we made adding trends easy and inexpensive. This one two punch simplified fashion greatly for those struggling to get dressed everyday.

As we continued our journey, we felt there was a missing link. There remained a huge disconnect from the fashion world to the closets of everyday women. Flip through any magazine and this becomes clear. Don’t get me wrong, everyone loves flipping through the latest magazines. But, when done, most are left with the same conclusion– not much is for me. I have just completed flipping through the May/June issue of W Magazine. Of course, as always, I enjoyed flipping cover to cover. Pages filled with beautiful people adorned with the lasted and greatest in fashion. Beautiful page after beautiful page… Take the needle off the record!

As much as I appreciated page after page filled with frivolous pomp, noting was very practical. There wasn’t anything I could add to my life. This is the disconnect between the fashion world and closets everywhere. Since one of my jobs is to create a bridge from the fashion magazines to your closet; I selected 5 favorites from this flip and, you guessed it, found practical alternatives.(Images are not mine — screen shots from W Magazine.)

This bright pink look is fabulous! BUT, not practical. The gorgeous top, found at Macys, is the practical way to wear the look.

Love, love, love this shoe!!! I did not search this shoes origin, however, it is most likely way over budget! Also the heel is not practical. We found a practical version at Payless.

The Look for Less – Blake Lively’s Red Carpet Look!

Get blake livelys red carpet look I love Hollywood! I love the romance and style of Hollywood. I love the celebs, they are always put together!

Although I love admiring the celebs, I find it a bit frustrating to attempt to get the same looks. For those of us who do not reside on Rodeo Drive or anywhere near, trying to achieve the same looks our favorite celebs tout can be a bit daunting.

Let’s look at the facts. Celebs have “a bit” more disposable income to drop on looking great, generally tend to be super beautiful, and are put together by people whose jobs are actually to put them together.

Since most of us do not have the same perks as the celebs achieving the same looks are not easy.

That’s why I have made it my job is to bring the runways, magazines and red carpets to real women’s closets. I think it is only fair for those of us non – celebs to have some red carpet in our lives!

With these pieces you can be Blake Lively fabulous!

The Look for Less : Angelina Jolie at the 81st Academy Awards

Who could forget Angelina Jolie at the 81^st Academy Awards? She was stunning – as if we would find her anything other way.

If you look at her total look you will notice that her jewelry is what made this a red carpet classic we won’t ever forget.

I believe the emerald earrings Angelina wore are valued over 2 million dollars! Who, but a movie star or a princess would have the honor of wearing such jewels. I do not have a clue the value of the ring she wore, but I am sure it is out of reach for most.

I don’t know about you, but I could care less about wearing 2 million dollar earrings or a ring that probably cost more that 10 of my houses. I just care about getting the same look. Let’s be honest , if the earrings were not worth 2 million and the ring was not real, Angelina would have looked equally stunning on the red carpet. ( Sorry Jeweler.)

My job at Achievable Fashion is to bring the runways, magazines and red carpet looks into the closets of real women. When I say real women I mean the majority of us do not have unlimited budgets and wear size 0. You know the non – movie stars and the non – princesses! I like to affectionately refer to the majority as the masses.
